In the UK, a new high pressure pipeline was constructed in the Cotswolds to satisfy the requirement for additional capacity into the gas national transmission system. Gas can now be transported from the Wormington compressor station to an above ground installation at Sapperton in Gloucestershire via a pipeline over 40 km long.
This pipeline presented significant design and engineering challenges and, due to environmental and physical constraints, the majority of the pipeline had to be routed through an area of outstanding natural beauty.
The project team established relationships with statutory consultees, landowners and residents affected by the construction activities. We received praise from Cotswold District Council and Conservation Board for our workmanship.
