Carbon intensity and make up of emissions

Our carbon intensity rose in 2010/11 to around 675 tonnes per £ million of revenue, compared with 630 tonnes in 2009/0, primarily due to increase emissions from our US generation facilities.

Just over 55% of our greenhouse gas emissions are carbon dioxide. Methane accounts for some 40%, while sulphur hexafluoride accounts for around 4% of our total emissions.

Emissions of the remaining three Kyoto greenhouse gases are not material, accounting in total to less than 1% of our total emissions.
