National Grid has renewed its partnership with Special Olympics Great Britain for a further three years. The renewal will extend a partnership that began in 2007, as part of National Grid’s community investment programme, which has evolved considerably over the last three years.
SOGB has nearly 8,000 athletes in 135 groups in England, Scotland and Wales run by a dedicated army of over 2600 volunteers that act in a wide variety of roles from sport coaches to fundraisers.
Over the past 3 years, National Grid has not only provided valuable financial support to SOGB but has also made a major impact through its Employee Volunteering Scheme. Over 600 National Grid employees have mentored and supported athletes at a local, regional national and international level and over 8,000 hours of volunteer time have been given by National Grid's UK employees since 2007.
