National Grid has been recognised by The Sunday Times as one of the top 60 Best Green Companies in the UK. The company was placed 26th and was featured in a special supplement published in the newspaper on Sunday 12 June.
This is the fourth year The Sunday Times has run the competition, which recognises ‘organisations demonstrating the highest environmental standards, with workforces engaged and in tune with their green initiatives’, and is the first time that National Grid has entered. What makes this achievement especially pleasing is that a large part of the judging was based on National Grid employee feedback.
Back in January, employees were asked to take part in a survey to identify how good National Grid was at putting its environmental standards and procedures into action. The aim was to recognise the things the company was doing, but also to understand its position compared to other companies across the UK.
National Grid could only qualify for entry if the results from the on-line survey showed that employees felt that National Grid was a company that took its environmental responsibilities seriously and that it was able to demonstrate the highest of standards, which it did!
