For the 12th year in a row, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US Department of Energy (DOE) have recognised National Grid for its leadership in minimizing the effects of climate change through energy efficiency.
Along with partner utilities, the company was honoured with four awards at the EPA-DOE ENERGY STAR© ceremony on April 12 in Washington, D.C.:
- ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence in Program Delivery and Partner of the Year Award – ENERGY STAR’s highest honour for work we’ve done to forward energy efficiency in the Northeastern US – particularly making energy-efficient lighting and appliances available to New England customers
- Excellence in ENERGY STAR promotions – for our innovative and creative approach to designing and implementing programmes to reach youth and harder-to-reach audiences across our service area
- ENERGY STAR Emerging Markets award – for outstanding commitment to helping New Hampshire homeowners reduce their energy consumption while ensuring the comfort of their homes
- Sustained Excellence Award for ENERGY STAR Homes – for providing incentives and technical support to build new ENERGY STAR homes, lower utility costs, enhance comfort and protect the environment.
“Energy efficiency is the most effective way for customers to save money on their monthly bills and reduce their carbon footprint,” said Ed White, National Grid US's vice president, Energy Products. “More than 20,000 organizations are ENERGY STAR partners working to improve the energy efficiency of products, homes, buildings and businesses. To be recognised for ENERGY STAR’s highest honours tells us that we really are on the right track for our customers and for the environment.”
