Metering Assessment and Recycling Centre

13/06/2011

Our £1.25 million MARC building, funded by National Grid Metering, is another step forward in our corporate responsibility commitments to be a sustainable business in the community.

1.4 million old meters are assessed each year to determine which are suitable for refurbishment and those that can be disposed of. A refurbished meter costs on average £50 less than a new one, potentially saving National Grid Metering nearly £5 million a year, and with the income from the scrap metals reclaimed from the unusable meters, a net income of over £500k per year is expected.

Our CEO, Steve Holliday, officially opened the building on 6th May 2010.
