New Moves at National Grid

Making their strategic moves at National Grid are newly appointed Group Chief Executive, Roger Urwin, and Executive Director for Europe and Chief Executive of National Grid’s UK business, Steven Holliday, who today (Monday 2 April 2001) begun their new roles.

Roger Urwin, 54, has been a Director of National Grid since 1995, having previously been Chief Executive of London Electricity. He was formerly responsible for National Grid’s UK transmission business as Chief Executive of the National Grid Company and has been heavily involved in the development and delivery of National Grid’s international strategy, in particular the expansion into the US. He succeeds David Jones, who retired on 31 March 2001 having been Group Chief Executive of National Grid since 1994.

Steven Holliday, 44, who succeeds Roger Urwin, has more that 20 years of experience in the energy industry. Most recently he was Executive Director with British Borneo Oil and Gas, where he was responsible for the development of international business opportunities and played a leading role in the merger with Hardy Oil & Gas in 1998. Previously, he was with the Exxon Group for 19 years where he held senior positions in operations and international business development.
