Sir John Parker became Chairman following the merger of National Grid Group plc and Lattice Group plc having been Chairman of Lattice Group plc since its demerger from BG Group plc in 2000. Sir John’s career has encompassed the engineering, shipbuilding and defence industries.

Sir John is Chairman of Anglo American plc, is Vice Chairman of DP World (Dubai),  and is a Non Executive Director of Carnival Corporation and EADS Airbus. He is Chancellor of the University of Southampton.

He was previously joint Chairman of Mondi plc,  Senior Non Executive Director (Chair) of the Court of the Bank of England, and Member of the Prime Minister’s Business Council for Britain.

He is Non Executive Chairman of the BVT Joint Venture and Vice President of The Royal Navy and Marines Charity.
