Electricity: National Grid owns and maintains the high-voltage electricity transmission system in England and Wales, together with operating the system across Great Britain (excluding Northern Ireland).

Gas: National Grid owns and maintains the high-pressure pipelines known as the National Transmission System, transporting gas from import terminals to major centres of population and some large industrial users, such as power stations.

When to Contact Transmission

Contact us if you have an enquiry regarding:

• Connecting to the transmission network
• Modification of an existing connection application
• A diversion of our network as part of your project
• The commissioning of new connections and power stations
• Our contracts with other electricity transmission owners (i.e. Scottish Hydro Electricity Transmission Ltd, Scottish Power Transmission Ltd, new offshore transmission operators)
• Transmission charges for our gas and electricity networks
• Any other transmission related issue
